Artist and recycler My Dog Sighs is the creator of these little can-characters. Rising into stardom since he started the Free Art Friday movement, where artist create works and leave them in public for people to take home, My Dog Sighs has since seen a boost in his fame due to his newest works, recycled cans with caricatures painted on the bottom.
“My Dog Sighs’s style is characterised by the combination of melancholic and often naive portraiture with the use of found materials including abandoned food cans; an unusual choice when considering traditional street art ideas of painting or pasted walls. Initially stemming from the desire to interact with the true public without causing permanent damage to public and private property this transient work is not concerned with permanence or mass audience, but a beautiful desire to communicate quietly with a single participant.”
Creating art that is temporary and non-crowd based is something not seen too often, and brings these works a very unique and special style. Since the art is not made to send a message, but rather to brighten the day of an unsuspecting viewer, each can has a special sense of personality and exclusiveness not seen before. (via Reddit)
