Ceramicist Matthew Chambers takes the meaning of complexity to a whole new level. Chambers creations are multi layered clay pots that perfectly mold together, with each layer moving independently from one another. Chambers creates these amazing sculptures by adding oxides to the clay before he begins the molding process on his potters’ wheel.

Each layer is then extensively sanded and polished before and after being fired, so that the surface becomes opaque, stone-like, soft to the touch and speckled in mirco-crystals for extra aesthetics. “The fun”, he states, “is discovering how a shape leads to another shape and how they adapt to each other”.
